Eren Mckay, today’s guest blogger, shares her insight about using Keyword Research to build your niche website.

Okay, so you’ve decided to create a website and you’ve even chosen the niche that you want to go into but you don’t really know how to go about choosing the right keyword phrases. Here in this article I’ll be covering different aspects of keyword research to help you understand the uses for each one.

The other day, I was cruising around the web taking in the various sites to see what I liked and didn’t like about them.

From your own such “travels”, you likely know, there are things that draw people to some sites and things that totally turn them away.

As a result of that cruising, I’ve come up with some tips, a checklist if you will, that you might use to help your Web site pass the “stay and read a while” test.

Since there are quite a few, I’ll list them over several days…so do come back to catch them all.

For starters, here are two simple, yet effective tips to make your site more user friendly…

1. Simple, Make It Simple – With all of the bells and whistles available these days, many people try to see how impressive they can be with their Web sites.

The end result may be attractive, but unless your goal is to win a contest for “best site”, impressing people with all that glitter will not necessarily be what makes you sales.

2. Make your site quick on the draw – Once a prospect lands at your site, you have little to no minutes to grab your customer’s attention.

So make sure you at least get a fair shot at grabbing his interest. As an example, if your site takes too long to load you will lose a lot of potential customers who won’t even give you or your site a second look.

That’s it for today; two simple but extremely useful tips to creating a more successful website. Keep an eye on this space for more tips.

Author: Karen McGreevey
07.02.2012

It’s that time of year again when the Online International Virtual Assistants Convention (OIVAC) people start gearing up for this year’s activities!

As in years past, the OIVAC will have topics and speakers for “all walks” of your VA life.

From “beginners to seasoned”, look for activities throughout the three days to suit your specific needs.

And if you don’t see something scheduled that interests you, contact us so we can see about getting it on the schedule.

This year’s OIVAC is May 17-19, with a lead-in from the 2nd Annual Virtual Assistants (VA) Week.

We’re looking forward to having you join in on the activities.

Check out OIVAC for all the details, and to get your name on the registration list.
