You Want to Write; Here are Some Ideas for Topics

Author: KMcGreevey: Konceptuality

Here are several ideas to help you put your writing into overdrive…

1. Subscribe to a bunch of RSS feeds on various subjects that interest you most. Then, each day look through the feeds and choose some articles or titles that you will read thoroughly.

Jot down some of the key points from the feeds that might make a good article or blog post.

2. Check out some print magazines; perhaps you’ve seen them at your recent doctor’s visit. Or while you were in line at the grocery store. Choose one or two articles and make note of the main points.

3. Carry a camera or a PDA. Or take photos with your cellphone. Anything to help you record the places you’ve gone or the people you’ve met as you travel about.

4. Visit some of your favorite blogs and scan through the comments posted by others.

Or, find an online article that interested you. Make note of some of the comments left by readers, and record your take, pro or con, of an issue so you can give your readers your two cents.

Ideas for Articles Are Here, There, Everywhere

All you have to do is look around

If you’ve ever spent time in line at a grocery store, or waiting somewhere for a bus, or even a minute or two or 20, waiting for some announcement by your favorite speaker, you may have been the “victim of a wandering mind!”

So, put that wandering mind to use and see how many ideas you can come up with for an article–just by “surveying your surroundings.”

Recently, while I was waiting for one of those campaigners to speak, I decided that rather than listen to some of the TV analysts go on and on, I’d tune them out to write an article.

And this is is it!

In truth, it took a while to get to this point, though, since I spent a good part of the morning dangling from “writer’s block”. Perhaps you’ve experienced it, too. Like when you’ve really meant to write an article to add to your article store, but no matter how hard you try you’re stuck because you can’t come up with a topic.

So what do you do?

Using Your Blog to Drum Up Business…

Author: KMcGreevey: Konceptuality
15.10.2010

Blogs are a great way to market your business, but that’s not all! They are also an excellent way to handle pre-launch marketing for information products. Your blog posts can really get people interested in the new product you are getting ready to offer. When marketing your product, your objective is to create a demand and generate an interest.

Thus, your blog is a great way to accomplish this. You can write informally, and put all kinds of media applications in your blog. You can also optimize your blog to “get the attention” of additional outside traffic from a variety of sources.

You probably know by now that your blog can be used for a number of different purposes. On a personal level, you can use your blog to keep your friends and family updated on the things going on in your life. And on a business level, your blog becomes a powerful tool which can be used to optimize your content. Which in turn attracts business to your Web site and ultimately increases your sales. The Fine Line Between Internet Marketing and Spam

Author: KMcGreevey: Konceptuality
27.05.2010

Okay, that’s usually known as “The Fine Line between Love and Hate.”

But for purposes here, you, as a business owner “in the know” who takes advantage of Internet marketing, realize there is a fine line between “marketing” and “spam”.

And so, you orchestrate your marketing campaigns to get the maximum amount of exposure without running the risk of having your efforts being viewed as spam.

Message boards are ideal for Internet marketing

This is because these boards can provide you with access to a specialized target audience. For instance, if you are in the business of finding jobs for employees who wish to telecommute, you might find people who may be interested in your services if you join a message board that’s dedicated to working from home.

Also, as a frequent visitor to such boards, you can learn a great deal about the things that concern your target audience. In fact, when appropriate and in accordance with the board guidelines, you might even occasionally and discretely take the opportunity to post links to your Web site. Sometimes boards allow you to do this by letting you include your link in your signature line.

This is smart Internet marketing

However, if you opt to respond willy-nilly to each and every post with a link to your Web site even when your site is not relevant and your post isn’t either, and if you do not offer comments of value to other members, they are likely to view your posts as spam!

This is unfortunate on so many levels because because the members may decide to avoid your Web site, even as they “cut off their nose to spite their face” when in truth, they really do have a need for your services.

Tips for Building Blog Traffic, Part 2

Author: KMcGreevey: Konceptuality
24.04.2010

A couple of days ago, I mentioned several ways to get traffic to your blog. Here are a few more tips you might consider for traffic:

You want toupdate your content regularly.

This is because search engines and blog services love to whoosh up regular updates. Thus, if you post to your blog regularly, it’s quite likely you will get targeted traffic via the search engines.

Further, this also means that ideally you ought to write a new post to your blog at least once per day! But, do so with care. Too many updates per day can easily harm your position in the search engines.

How much is too much, you say? If you have 10 or more posts in one 24-hour period, that’s considered too many.

Give some strong thought to posting in forums

But as with many things on the web, do so with caution; don’t spam them. And make sure that what you post is fresh and interesting. Also, add a link to your blog or your Web site in your signature.

Now, don’t post at just any forum.

For example, if you’re selling cds, post in forums about music and cds. Don’t post at car forums if you’re selling furniture.

When you post in forums you get one-way links, which are good for your position in the search engines like Google or msn or Yahoo.

You can submit your blog to blob search engines

There are many, many search engines that list only blogs. If you Google for “blog search engines,“ you ought to easily find at least 20 search engines that will help you get targeted traffic.

When you submit to the search engines, be sure to give your blog a good title and an even better description of your blog, so your potential customers can find it easily, and click on your link.

Finding Free Content on the Web

Author: KMcGreevey: Konceptuality
17.04.2010

If you’re thinking about building a new Web site, ideally, your plan ought to ensure it is composed of original content.

However, you may run into trouble doing that because that method is very time-consuming. And in some cases, it may even be outside of your knowledge and expertise.

It can also be quite expensive to create your own content!

This is why sites like article banks are especially useful because they help to build the content level.

Additionally, you should take care to ensure that whatever materials you use actually pertain to your site, especially since the top search engines such as Google rank their pages on a relevant link system.

In addition to the actual number of links!

While it is quite good to have a thousand links, if six hundred of those links revolve around movies when your Web site pertains to motor sports, your ranking will still be at the low end of the ranking scale.
